BASCULE
/ˈbæskjuːl/ is the natural rounded arc a horse's body takes as it goes over a jump.
Inspired in part by Eadweard Muybridge’s photographic studies of animal locomotion, Bascule follows the unfolding gesture of a horse over a jump, from gathering to takeoff, suspension, landing, and return. Five moments held simultaneously turn a few seconds of movement into a single sculptural form.
