Jumper I & II

Jumper I & II grew directly from my life with horses. I began sculpting them ringside at a jumper show in Del Mar, California, watching horses move through the course while I worked in clay.

The two works capture different moments in the arc of a jump, the suspension, athleticism and sheer exuberance of a horse leaving the ground and returning to it.
